But when you go to a feisyou will need to know what the name of the dance really is.four hops = reeljump and up and 1 2 3 4 = light jigtoe, heel point = slip jigstep and up and step and up = single jig
What to expect at a FeisWhen you go to your first feis, your dancer will do thedances that he/she knows to music. The order of the dances will be: reel - light jig - slip jig - single jigYour dancer will compete according to their age on 01/01/2008. Your dancer will remain in this category the entire year. For example: if your dancer's age is 7 on01-01-08 he/she would compete in the U8 category. At the feis, dancers are lined up in their age group, two dancers will dance at the same time. It is importantto know that the other dance studios have their own versions of the reel, light jig, slip jig and single jig. When it is yourdancer's turn, he/she will need to dance the Claddagh versionof the dances. That is why it is so important that they arefamiliar with the dances to music. It helps them from beingconfused with the other dances / dancers.
As per your registration agreement, your tuition is based on year round attendance of 3 class weeks per month. Holidays are figured into this and there are NO make-up classes for holidays

What is a feis? A feis is an Irish dance competition and it is pronounced "fesh". Is your dancer ready for his/her 1st feis? To compete in their first feis your dancer should know at least 3 soft shoe dances to music. It is important to ask Kelly if she thinks your dancer is ready. Once you get the thumbs up, get a feis schedule and decide which feis to attend. Your dancer will also need a full costume to participate in a feis.
